Shaw Festival

The Shaw Festival is one of the largest repertory companies in North America, and the only theatre in the world that specializes in plays written by Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries (1856-1950): “plays about the beginning of the modern world.”

Here, history is alive. A visit to the site allows you not only to hear about history, but to actually experience the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of a garrison in the early 19th century. You can watch soldiers perform drill or listen to the music of the fife and drum corps as both prepare for battle on the Niagara frontier.

Butterfly Conservatory

This year round exhibit showcases a wide variety of butterflies from around the world living in a lush, rain forest like environment. A 183 m (600 ft.) network of pathways provides access for the physically challenged throughout the 1,022 square metre (11,000 square foot) conservatory, allowing visitors a rare opportunity to watch numerous species of butterflies floating majestically among nectar producing flowers such as lantanas, pentas, and passion flowers.
